Delhi

On the flight  I watched the journey on the TV screen and out of the window. Fascinating to see the mountains over Iran..two huge peaks…it felt like I was looking at the crust of the earth.

We drove at breakneck speed to the YMCA.

First impressions of Delhi…people sleeping in the road side and two cows! Lorries everywhere saying SOUND HORN!

At first the YMCA felt like an office block.

Charlie tells me to let the porters carry the bags upstairs…they need the tips.

A pink glow over the city…with big birds circling in the sky

The restaurant and lobby look better in daylight.

We slept in and missed breakfast, but managed to find something to eat in the restaurant. Then walked down to Connaught Circus…not all the shops were open but we were accosted by ‘Government Shop’ men welcoming us to the city!

We caught an auto-rickshaw to Ibex to get some money, past the Old Fort and Delhi Gate.

Then walked through an amazing market…Paharganj…

vegetables piled high, red and gold funeral decorations and a trunk shop.

Cows and carts everywhere.A Hindu temple with women sitting and children singing…a butterfly flits past.

A Sikh temple with garlands of marigolds in the trees.

Rest in the room then go for a swim.

A nice meal at the YMCA.
